Inappropriate Phrase Found on Infant Clothing Set
Topten Kids Issues Official Apology, Offers Full Refund to All Customers
Domestic children's clothing brand Topten Kids issued an official apology after it was revealed that some of their products contained inappropriate English phrases. On October 30, Topten Kids released an official statement, saying, "We deeply apologize to our customers for the recent use of inappropriate phrases on some of our products." The problematic product is the "Infant Cha Yoon Art Fleece Setup - Pink," which was produced through a collaboration with an external artist. The top of this product features a rabbit illustration on a sock along with the phrase "come inside me." Consumers pointed out that, in English-speaking countries, this phrase is interpreted as implying that unprotected sexual intercourse is acceptable.

Previously, a consumer happened to search for the English phrase printed on the clothing and discovered that it carried a sexual meaning. After informing the brand of this fact, the consumer reportedly received a refund. The consumer, suspecting that the phrase was not a common expression, searched for it online and found that it implied a woman asking a man for unprotected sex. After learning about the sexual meaning of the phrase printed on the clothing, the consumer notified the brand and received a refund.
Topten Kids stated, "Although this product was created in collaboration with an external artist, it is entirely our brand's responsibility that we did not sufficiently review the appropriateness of the phrase." The brand added, "As a company that creates products for children, we take our failure to fulfill our basic responsibilities very seriously," and emphasized, "We will fundamentally overhaul our review procedures for all product designs and phrases as a result of this incident."

Topten Kids further apologized, stating, "We will conduct a comprehensive review of our product inspection process," and reiterated, "We deeply reflect on our failure to fulfill the most basic responsibilities as a brand that makes products for children." On the day the issue was recognized, Topten Kids immediately halted sales across all online and offline distribution channels and is currently in the process of recalling all affected products. Topten Kids is now offering a full refund to all customers who purchased the product, regardless of the purchase date. Refunds are available at all stores nationwide, through the official online mall, and via the customer service center.
