On the 30th, U.S. President Donald Trump referred to Chinese President Xi Jinping as "the great leader of a great nation," adding, "I believe we will have a fantastic relationship for a long time."
During his opening remarks at the U.S.-China summit held at Naraemaru within Busan Gimhae Air Force Base that day, President Trump stated, "It is a great honor to be here with someone who has been my friend for such a long time."

President Trump described President Xi as "a very dignified and respected President of China," and said, "We have already reached agreements on many things, and I believe we will agree on even more going forward."
This U.S.-China summit marks the first such meeting during Trump's second administration, and the first in six years and four months since the G20 summit in June 2019.
