The signing ceremony was attended by Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, Jeong Geunsik, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, the head of the Dongjak-Gwanak Education Support Office, and other key officials. They shared the vision and operational direction of the Gwanak Education Cooperation Special Zone and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening educational cooperation for future generations.
This agreement changes the name of the existing “Gwanak Future Education Zone” to the “Gwanak Education Cooperation Special Zone” and focuses on expanding the practical scope and effectiveness of collaborative projects between the district and the Office of Education.
The main contents of the agreement include: ▲Joint operation of distinctive projects between Gwanak District and the Education Support Office ▲Enhancing the quality of community-linked education ▲Establishing a customized integrated support system for students ▲Laying the foundation for local educational development. The two organizations have set the vision of “Gwanak Education Cooperation Special Zone that opens dreams and growth through diverse learning,” and agreed to work together so that children and youth can grow into well-rounded individuals with both creativity and character.
In particular, the district will actively utilize local social, cultural, and industrial resources in education to promote region-specific, customized education that highlights Gwanak’s unique characteristics. The aim is to support students so they can experience learning connected to real life and develop into proactive learners.
Gwanak District plans to establish concrete action plans and, starting next year, will launch a full-scale special zone project by operating various in-school and out-of-school programs such as youth festivals, career exploration, and community-linked curricula.
Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, said, “This agreement marks a new starting point for collaboration among schools, the local community, and the district for a better future for our children, and will serve as an opportunity to further enhance the quality of education. Going forward, we will continue to vigorously promote education for future generations in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Dongjak-Gwanak Education Support Office, creating an environment where children can realize their dreams.”
