The two institutions have been collaborating on this joint publication project since June 2024. Seoul-based independent curator and art historian Lim Sooyoung was selected as the Editorial Fellow, and both institutions worked together on research and publication. A total of 16 contributors (or teams) from Korea and abroad participated.
To commemorate the publication, a public program titled "Speaking with a Borrowed Mouth: Editorial Notes on Art, Asia, and AI" will be held locally in Amsterdam on November 23. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Stedelijk Museum, where Lim Sooyoung, Charles Landvreugd, and Chae Yeon will introduce various aspects of the research journal and share their reflections on "learning from each other" during the 18-month collaboration. This will be followed by meetings with local cultural and arts professionals as well as young researchers.
The printed book will be available for purchase at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Art Bookstore, the Stedelijk Museum bookstore, and online bookstores in Korea. It can also be found on the website of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Kim Sunghee, Director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, stated, "Opening up the museum's foundational research and publication to the next generation of researchers and expanding the academic ecosystem is truly innovative. Moving forward, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will continue to foster encounters between Korean art and the world through research and publication."
