The Chinese government officially announced on the 29th the upcoming "Busan Summit" between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on this day, "After consultations between China and the United States, President Xi Jinping will hold a summit meeting with U.S. President Trump on the 30th in Busan, South Korea," adding, "The two leaders will exchange views on China-U.S. relations and issues of mutual interest."
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jia-kun said at a regular briefing, "Summit diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-U.S. relations," and added, "At this summit, the two leaders will engage in in-depth communication on strategic and long-term issues related to China-U.S. relations, as well as major issues of mutual concern."
He continued, "We are willing to work together with the United States to ensure that this summit achieves positive outcomes, serves as a new guide for the stable development of U.S.-China relations, and injects fresh momentum into the relationship."
Regarding President Trump's remarks before his trip to South Korea that he may lower tariffs imposed on China in connection with the "zombie drug" fentanyl, Guo refrained from giving a direct answer and said, "We remain open to continued cooperation with the United States in responding to drug-related issues."
