This agreement was made to promote the development of marine tourism in Gyeonggi Province and to jointly utilize local marine resources. The signing ceremony was attended by Jeong Myeonggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong, Kim Seokgu, President of Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, and officials from both organizations.
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to closely cooperate in various areas, including: ▲ development, publicity, and marketing to boost marine tourism ▲ mutual support for major projects and strengthening domestic and overseas promotion ▲ social contribution activities to enhance the welfare of Hwaseong citizens, especially those in island regions.
In particular, through the agreement, both organizations will connect programs at Jebu Marina and Jeongok Marina during the "Hwaseong Boat Festival" to expand the diversity and scope of the festival. Outside the festival period, they plan to operate the "Cheonhae Yuramdan," a program linking the West Sea Cable Car and yacht experiences, on a regular basis to help revitalize the local economy.
Kim Seokgu stated, "I hope this agreement with Hwaseong City, which has the largest marine area in Gyeonggi Province, will serve as an opportunity for further development of Gyeonggi's marine sector and Pyeongtaek Port."
Jeong Myeonggeun commented, "This is a very meaningful agreement that will allow us to actively utilize Hwaseong City's marine tourism resources such as Jebudo, Gungpyeong Port, Jeongok Port, and Gukhwa Island. Through close cooperation with the Pyeongtaek Port Authority, we will develop Hwaseong City into the central city for marine tourism in Gyeonggi Province."
