Namyangju City Council Holds Meeting on "Public Housing Community Innovation Model Creation"

A Successful Model of Cooperation Among Namyangju City Council, Namyangju City, and GH Needed for Wangsuk New Town

The Namyangju City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Cho Seongdae) announced on the 29th that it had held a meeting on the "Public Housing Community Innovation Model Creation" in the small conference room of the Namyangju City Council on the 28th.

This meeting was organized to gather a wide range of opinions for the successful implementation of the public housing community innovation model pilot project being carried out by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) at Dasan Jigeum A5 Happy Housing in Namyangju. The discussion focused on strengthening connections within the local community for a new generation integration in Namyangju, revitalizing resident communities, reallocating living SOC, ensuring safety, and integrating digital management systems. The meeting was attended by Cho Seongdae, Chairman of the Namyangju City Council, Lee Jinhwan, Chairman of the Steering Committee, officials from GH, and heads of relevant departments from Namyangju City.

Chairman Cho Seongdae stated, "The generational integration community restoration project is an important initiative that brings together diverse groups to communicate and unite, thereby contributing to the development of Namyangju. I hope that this consultation will serve as an opportunity for the public and private sectors to collaborate and create a mutually beneficial innovation model for the advancement of public housing in Namyangju."

Chairman Lee Jinhwan said, "We need to establish generational integration community facilities in all apartment complexes in Wangsuk New Town, taking the Gyeonggi Unity pilot project starting in Dasan New Town as a successful model. The Namyangju City Council will also actively cooperate with Namyangju City and GH for the successful implementation of the project."

In response, a GH official stated, "With this pilot project for the innovation model, we plan to incorporate resident convenience facilities and common spaces from the design stage, and actively introduce intergenerational communication, exchange, and interaction programs during the implementation process."

A department head from the executive branch requested GH to "establish a clear system of responsibility for management and inspection throughout the entire process, from design to acquisition to operation, as there have been cases in the past where facilities were built but complaints arose due to poor management."

Meanwhile, the public housing community facility will create a community space in the idle area (neighborhood living facility) of 965 square meters (1st and 2nd floors) within the Dasan Jigeum A5 Happy Housing complex. It will operate various programs such as a Kids Station, a wellness center for seniors, a screen park golf course, and classes on childcare and cooking education. The facility is scheduled to open in December.
