Water Purification Plant Passes Sanitation Inspection
Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province announced that the Yeongam Water Purification Plant received a "highly suitable" rating after a joint inspection of its sanitation management conducted by the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office, the Korea Water Resources Corporation Yeonggwang and Islands Regional Headquarters, and Yeonggwang County.
Prior to the inspection, the Waterworks and Sewerage Office installed insect traps and larva collectors at five water purification plants in the county, based on the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment's guidelines for the prevention and response to the occurrence of larvae in tap water. This completely blocked both the occurrence and inflow routes of larvae within all purification facilities. In addition, the county is making every effort to ensure clear and clean water quality by thoroughly managing the sanitation of each water facility.
An official from Yeonggwang County stated, "Going forward, we will not only do our utmost to manage the sanitation and operation of tap water facilities, which are essential to life, but will also work closely with the Korea Water Resources Corporation, a specialized water management agency, to improve our facilities and ensure the production and supply of high-quality tap water to residents."
