One Worker Dies at Pangyo Office Construction Site Managed by Samsung C&T

Subcontracted Worker Struck by Excavator

An accident resulting in the death of a worker occurred at the Pangyo office construction site, where Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group is in charge of construction.

According to police on October 29, at around 8 a.m. that day, a worker in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, who was employed by a subcontractor, died at the Pangyo 641 PSM Tower construction site located at 641 Sampyeong-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam City.

Mr. A, who was working in the basement, was reportedly struck by a reversing excavator and died at the scene.

The site where the accident occurred is being constructed by Samsung C&T, and Mr. A was affiliated with a company specializing in steel structure fabrication and installation.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident and whether safety regulations were followed, by questioning those involved at the site.

Samsung C&T stated, "We will do our utmost to manage the aftermath of the accident."

The Pangyo 641 project involves the construction of software promotion facilities and more, with the land purchased for 837.7 billion won in December 2020 by the NC Consortium-which consists of NCSOFT, Samsung C&T, the Korean Local Government Officials’ Mutual Aid Association, and Mirae Asset Global Investments-together with Seongnam City. The project includes NCSOFT's new RDI Center and the PSM Tower.
