While Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, is being criticized as a multi-homeowner by the Democratic Party of Korea and the Office of the President, Jang Yechan, former Supreme Youth Committee Member of the People Power Party, countered by saying, "Spokesperson Kang Yujeong's Porsche is probably more expensive than Jang Donghyuk's country house."
On the 28th, former committee member Jang Yechan stated through his social media account, "Thanks to the forced claims from the Democratic Party and the Office of the President, only positive stories about Jang Donghyuk are being highlighted." Jang Donghyuk currently owns an apartment in Guro District, Seoul, an apartment and a detached house in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, and an officetel near the National Assembly. Apartments in Anyang and Jinju are partially owned by his wife, who inherited shares in them.
Jang Donghyuk and his wife live in the apartment in Guro, Seoul, and the apartment in Boryeong, while Jang's mother resides in another house in Boryeong. The officetel near the National Assembly was reportedly used as accommodation for the convenience of his legislative work.
Former committee member Jang stated, "Jang Donghyuk bought a house in Guro instead of Gangnam. That alone settles the matter," and added, "I also just learned that he bought a house in his constituency and cares for his mother in a modest country home, showing his humane side."
It is common for lawmakers to be criticized if they live in their constituencies on a lease or monthly rent, as it is seen as a sign they are ready to leave at any time. In contrast, Jang Donghyuk appears to have purchased an apartment in Boryeong and arranged for his mother to live in a nearby detached house.
Jang Yechan continued, "It's expected from the Democratic Party, which is notorious for double standards, but I didn't expect the Office of the President to get involved as well," adding, "Spokesperson Kang Yujeong lives in Banpo Acro River Park, which is valued at over 5 billion won, and drives a Porsche Cayenne Coupe, so I was surprised she would criticize Jang Donghyuk's country house."
He went on to say, "The Porsche that Kang Yujeong drives is probably more expensive than Jang Donghyuk's country house. Their political sense is even more disappointing than I thought," and added, "It seems this is how much the People Power Party's and Jang Donghyuk's criticism of real estate issues is hitting a nerve. These days, thanks to the blunders of the Office of the President and the Democratic Party, it's actually quite easy and enjoyable to broadcast."
