Participation Fee: 5,000 Won
Supporting Young Caregivers
Seo-gu District in Gwangju will host the '5th Walking Together in Seo-gu, Oh-itgil Walking Festival' on November 2 under the Geukrakgyo Bridge.
According to Seo-gu on the 29th, 'Oh-itgil' means a 5.2-kilometer path that connects hope to our neighbors through a donation of 5,000 won. This festival is Seo-gu's signature resident-participation charity event, held to support young caregivers.
About 2,000 participants, including young caregivers, people with disabilities, seniors, and care providers, will walk together along the 5.2-kilometer route from the Yeongsangang Bicycle Path Information Center, turning back at the area under Sinseochanggyo Bridge, practicing sharing along the way.
The entire participation fee of 5,000 won will be used as support funds for young caregivers. At the 800-meter point along the walking course, the 'Seo-gu Honor Zone' will be set up to share the giving philosophy of 'Seo-gu Honors', a group of major donors in Seo-gu. At the turning point, a 'Completion Stamp Zone' will be operated to enhance participants' sense of achievement.
Notably, Seo-gu will promote coexistence with the local commercial district by operating 'Onnuri Franchise Food Booths' and an 'Onnuri Promotion Zone' at the event venue, leveraging its achievement as the first district nationwide to designate all areas as alley-type shopping districts.
In addition, a variety of cultural and experiential programs will take place, including Nanta, choir, and acoustic guitar performances, a care empathy exhibition, a photo booth, and an Honor Zone experience. Bulk Coffee, a leading Gwangju-based company, will provide free coffee to participants as part of its social contribution efforts. Registration is available via Naver Form or on-site on the day of the event.
Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Ikang said, "I hope this warm step of 5,000 won will become real hope for young caregivers," adding, "We look forward to a festival of solidarity where many residents walk and share together."
Meanwhile, since 2023, Seo-gu has held the 'Oh-itgil Walking Festival' four times, with more than 7,000 residents participating and raising a total of approximately 46 million won in donations, which have been delivered to young caregivers and young people in need of support for independence.
