The Yangju City Social Welfare Council (Chairman Hwang San) held the "4th Year Welfare Communication Meeting with the Mayor of Yangju City in the 8th Term of Direct Election" on the 28th in the auditorium of the Yangju City Disabled Comprehensive Welfare Center.
The meeting was attended by more than 70 heads of social welfare organizations and institutions, including Mayor Yang Soo-hyun, as well as over 10 department and team heads from Yangju City Hall responsible for social welfare work. The discussion was lively and extended for two hours, exceeding the scheduled time.
This meeting served as a practical platform to share the direction of Yangju City's welfare policies and to strengthen field-oriented communication. In particular, the city focused on sharing key policies and major issues, while making efforts to reflect field voices in municipal administration.
The council conveyed a variety of welfare issues proposed in advance by institutions to the mayor. The main topics included: a proposal to establish an integrated barrier-free smart park near the welfare complex for people with disabilities; requests for improved working conditions, such as compliance with wage guidelines for social welfare facility workers and expanded support for health checkup expenses; expansion of personnel and improvement of working environments at senior clubs and child protection agencies; and opinions regarding Yangju City's policy direction on the integrated care system to be implemented in 2026.
Regarding the issues raised, Mayor Yang Soo-hyun expressed gratitude to those working in social welfare facilities who are doing their best under challenging circumstances. He stated, "For matters that cannot be resolved immediately, we will conduct a thorough review with the relevant departments and provide follow-up feedback to the council."
Mayor Yang Soo-hyun further pledged, "We will continue to communicate and cooperate to provide welfare services that satisfy our citizens. By listening to voices from the field and communicating, we will establish welfare policies based on public-private collaboration and strive to make Yangju City a community that stands with the socially disadvantaged." He also added, "We will review ways to provide as much support as possible for the suggestions raised at today's meeting."
Hwang San, Chairman of the Yangju City Social Welfare Council, remarked, "Communication in the field of welfare leads directly to the happiness of citizens. We will continue to build a strong public-private cooperation system and strive to maintain an ongoing channel for dialogue. I ask for the continued interest and support of all participants."
