"We Will Do Our Utmost as a Council to Become the True Strength of Daejeon Agriculture"
Jo Wonhui, Chairperson of the Daejeon City Council, stated, "In the rapidly changing agricultural environment, women farmers have quietly fulfilled their roles as leaders in the community while advancing agriculture." She added, "The Daejeon City Council has made efforts to provide institutional support by reflecting the voices from the field in policies and processing ordinance bills on smart agriculture, urban farming, and the promotion of local food."
Chairperson Jo made these remarks on October 28 at the 11th Daejeon Women Farmers Unity Festival held at the Agricultural Technology Center, expressing deep gratitude for the hard work and dedication of local women farmers.
This event, which celebrates the changes and progress of women farmers as actual managers in the agricultural field, was attended by about 400 people, including leaders of local organizations and institutions, women farmers, and related officials. The program included commendations for distinguished individuals, congratulatory speeches by key guests, a climate change response performance, and activities to promote unity among members.
Chairperson Jo emphasized, "Moving forward, the sweat and dedication of women farmers-who are the driving force behind change and innovation-will serve as the unseen roots and true strength of Daejeon agriculture, and the council will do its utmost to fulfill its role in this regard."
