"No More Safety Concerns for Citizens" ... Changwon Special City Installs Remote Access Control Facilities at Nakdong River Waterfront Parks

Enhanced Citizen Safety Through Swift Access Control
During Rising Nakdong River Water Levels and Flood Advisories

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province has completed the installation of remote access control facilities at five locations, including Bukburi in Daesan-myeon, Uichang-gu, within the Nakdong River national river area.

According to the city on October 28, this project was implemented to prevent accidents and disasters involving citizens by enabling swift and accurate access control during periods of rising Nakdong River water levels or when flood advisories are issued.

The five installation sites include one at the Daesan-myeon park golf course, three at the Buk-myeon riverside ecological park (the multipurpose plaza, the disabled park golf course, and the sundial plaza), and one at the Bonpo riverside park in Dong-eup. The installed facilities feature remote barriers, CCTV cameras, electronic information boards, and disaster alert broadcasting equipment.

Previously, during heavy rain or flood advisories, staff had to be dispatched to the sites to manually install access barriers and inform visitors of disaster situations, which limited the ability to respond immediately.

With the completion of this project, the Changwon City River Control Center can now use video surveillance equipment to control access quickly and disseminate disaster information in real time, significantly enhancing the safety of citizens using the Nakdong River waterfront parks.

Lee Yujeong, Director of the Climate and Environment Bureau, stated, "With the installation of these remote access control facilities, we can more proactively protect the safety of citizens using the Nakdong River waterfront parks. We will continue to expand safety infrastructure to create a riverside space where everyone can enjoy the Nakdong River with peace of mind."
