Mr. A was accused of protesting the previous day's dismissal notice to factory manager Mr. B at a car repair shop in Busan where he worked on January 21 of this year, then picking up a weapon from under the water purifier and repeatedly harming himself on his neck and abdomen.

Mr. A, who had received the dismissal notice from Mr. B by phone, caused a disturbance for 50 minutes, saying things like "I can't accept this," "Are you telling me to die?" and "I'll die here." During the commotion, he suddenly swung the weapon at himself, causing serious injuries and was reportedly taken to a hospital for treatment.

The court stated, "The defendant threatened the victim and obstructed the operation of the repair shop by self-harming with a dangerous object," adding, "Given the dangerous nature of the act, the severity of the crime is not minor." However, the court also explained the sentencing, saying, "It appears that the crime was committed impulsively and spontaneously after receiving the dismissal notice," and took into account the facts that Mr. A has no criminal record exceeding a fine and has a family to support.
