Joint Training to Strengthen AX Capabilities of Employees
KT announced on October 28 that it has signed a business agreement with Kyndryl, the world's largest IT infrastructure services company, in San Francisco, USA, to collaborate on artificial intelligence transformation (AX) projects.
The two companies plan to jointly participate in the domestic AI, cloud, and security sectors by combining their expertise in telecommunications and global business execution capabilities, targeting business-to-business (B2B) customers. Kyndryl is the world's largest IT infrastructure service provider, spun off from IBM's infrastructure services division in 2021.
The main points of the agreement include: ▲ entering regulated industry AX markets and collaborating on security architecture research; ▲ strengthening AX capabilities of KT employees and promoting the modernization of KT's IT systems.
KT and Kyndryl also plan to jointly participate, as needed, in upcoming AX projects in regulated industries such as domestic finance and the public sector. According to the government's "4th Basic Plan for Cloud Computing (2025-2027)," the cumulative contract value for public sector cloud services is expected to double from 500 billion won in September last year to 1 trillion won by 2027.
The Financial Services Commission announced the "Roadmap for Improving Network Separation in the Financial Sector" last year, and demand for utilizing the latest AX services in regulated industries is increasing.
Joint training to strengthen KT employees' AX capabilities will also be implemented. Based on Kyndryl's global AX project experience, the two companies plan to discuss ways to smoothly modernize KT's IT infrastructure and services, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Petra Goude, President of Strategic Markets at Kyndryl, emphasized, "Through this cooperation, KT will be able to support its customers with greater agility in the AI era."
Jung Woojin, Head of Strategy and Business Consulting at KT, said, "Through our collaboration with Kyndryl, we will be able to strengthen our AI, cloud, and security capabilities as well as our global execution power. Together with Kyndryl, we will provide reliable AX services to key industry customers in the public and financial sectors."
