The White House announced that President Donald Trump of the United States and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan signed a joint statement titled "Toward a New Golden Age of the U.S.-Japan Alliance (NEW GOLDEN AGE)" after concluding their first summit in Tokyo, Japan, on October 28.

According to the White House, the two leaders reaffirmed that both countries are continuously implementing the U.S.-Japan Framework Agreement signed on July 22 and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strategic investment announced on September 4.

The White House stated that the two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the economic security of both countries, promote economic growth, and continue to drive global prosperity through faithful implementation of the agreements.

According to Bloomberg News, the joint statement announced on this day specifically includes plans to establish a cooperative framework in the fields of critical minerals and rare earth elements.

The report also added that the two countries pledged to select joint projects and take measures to provide financial support within six months to address supply chain gaps. The statement also includes plans to hold a "Minerals and Metals Investment Ministerial Meeting" within 180 days.

However, the joint statement did not include detailed provisions regarding Japan's tariffs on the United States or the bilateral investment agreement, which are considered key issues.

The White House further stated that the two leaders instructed their respective ministers to take additional measures toward the "ever-evolving New Golden Age of the U.S.-Japan Alliance (NEW GOLDEN AGE)."
