Supply of In-Vehicle Voice AI System with DK Techin
On October 28, BMW Group announced that it had signed a technology supply agreement for an in-vehicle voice artificial intelligence (AI) system with DK Techin, a subsidiary of Kakao, on the previous day.
The signing ceremony was attended by Andreas Sturm, Head of BMW Group Research & Development Center Korea; Sebastian Felser, Head of BMW Group Purchasing and Quality Management; Joo Yangye, Head of Customer Division at BMW Korea; Lee Wonjoo, CEO of DK Techin; and other key representatives from both companies.
BMW Group plans to build a vehicle control system that incorporates DK Techin's voice AI system-based on Kakao's AI "Kanana"-along with a large language model (LLM) and onboard technology. As a result, BMW and MINI customers are expected to enjoy a more sophisticated and intuitive voice control and infotainment experience using natural, conversational language.
Andreas Sturm stated, "BMW Group has always strived to provide the best user experience for customers through optimal localization," adding, "We will continue to pursue ongoing localization and the development of tailored services to further enhance satisfaction among Korean customers."
