Business Expansion MOU Signed with SK Enmove and U.S. GRC
Three Companies Combine Core Capabilities for New Business Opportunities
Immersion Cooling: Submerging Data Center Servers in Specialized Fluids
Portfolio Expansion Strengthens Position as a Leading Cooling Solution Provider
LG Electronics is partnering with Korea’s SK Enmove and U.S.-based immersion cooling specialist GRC to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) data center cooling solution portfolio to include immersion cooling technology.

The three companies announced on October 28 that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 27 at LG Electronics’ chiller facility in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, to expand their AI data center cooling solution business.
Through this collaboration, the three companies will conduct a proof of concept (PoC) for an integrated immersion cooling solution that combines their respective technologies and products. The joint effort will leverage LG Electronics’ chillers, cooling distribution units (CDUs), and fan wall units (FWUs) that evenly distribute thermal load for precise cooling control, SK Enmove’s immersion cooling fluid, and GRC’s immersion cooling tanks. The demonstration will take place at a dedicated AI data center testbed established within the Pyeongtaek chiller facility. Through this initiative, the companies aim to actively identify new business opportunities based on immersion cooling solutions.
Immersion cooling is a technology that cools electronic devices that generate heat, such as data center servers, by submerging them directly in a special non-conductive cooling fluid. By using a liquid with high thermal conductivity instead of air, heat can be dissipated more rapidly. The power usage effectiveness (PUE), which measures the energy efficiency of data centers, is the lowest among existing data center cooling methods, making immersion cooling highly effective in reducing power consumption.
By incorporating immersion cooling technology into its cooling solution portfolio, LG Electronics plans to further strengthen its position as a leading provider of optimal cooling solutions for AI data centers.
Previously, at “Data Center World Asia 2025” held recently in Singapore, LG Electronics unveiled a new cooling distribution unit that more than doubles the cooling capacity from 650kW (kilowatts) to 1.4MW (megawatts), expanding its lineup of cooling solution products. The company has also signed a business agreement to supply cooling solutions to the largest “Net Zero AI Data Center” in the Middle East, currently under construction in NEOM City, Saudi Arabia. In addition, LG Electronics has secured contracts to supply air-cooled pre-cooling chillers worth tens of billions of won to a hyperscale AI data center in the United States, as well as oil-free inverter turbo chillers and air handling units (AHUs) to an AI data center in Jakarta, Indonesia, achieving a series of notable successes.
SK Enmove, a leading company in high-end base oil and premium lubricants, provides next-generation thermal management solutions such as immersion cooling fluids and is strengthening global partnerships to foster the immersion cooling ecosystem. In 2022, SK Enmove became the first in Korea to begin developing immersion cooling fluids, and through its investment in GRC, the company is jointly developing data center immersion cooling systems with GRC, driving innovation in the future cooling market.
GRC, headquartered in Texas, USA, is a global leader in immersion cooling solutions. Since introducing the industry’s first such solution in 2009, GRC has worked with leading global IT companies to commercialize immersion cooling technology and expand the market.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Jaesung, Head of the Enterprise Solutions Division at LG Electronics; Nam Jaein, Head of Green Growth Division at SK Enmove; and Peter Poulin, CEO of GRC, among others.
Nam Jaein commented, “With the immersion cooling technology and market experience of the three companies, we expect to further enhance our competitiveness in the global data center immersion cooling market by effectively combining each company’s strengths. Based on innovative solutions and strategic partnerships, we will lead the growth and transformation of the cooling market.” Peter Poulin, CEO of GRC, stated, “This collaborative partnership between LG and SK will deliver innovative and quantitatively proven value to AI data center customers. We will support customers in rapidly adopting high-quality cooling solutions and establishing stable operating environments.” Lee Jaesung also explained, “This collaboration was initiated to maximize energy efficiency and cooling performance, which are key challenges for AI data centers. By providing differentiated cooling solutions in the rapidly growing AI data center industry, we will further enhance our global market competitiveness.”
