Jindo County in South Jeolla Province announced on October 27 that it will host the '2025 Jindo International Intangible Cultural Festival' from October 30 to November 2 at the Jindo Local Culture Center and Cheolma Park.
This festival, organized by the county and managed by the Jindo Cultural City Center, is a global cultural event where intangible cultural heritage from Korea and abroad comes together, blending tradition, art, exchange, and inspiration.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on October 31 at the Jindo Local Culture Center, featuring a special performance by the Little Angels Children's Art Troupe, as well as unique acts such as a flying performance and a grand drum ensemble. Popular singers including Song Ga-in, My Jin, Choi Jin-hee, and Ulala Session will also perform, adding to the excitement of the festival.
During the festival, performances of Jindo’s representative intangible cultural heritage such as Jindo Dasiraegi, Jindo Ssitgimgut, Jindo Buknori, and Ganggangsullae will be held. In addition, traditional art troupes from across the country will participate, presenting Samdo Arirang (from Miryang, Jeongseon, and Jindo), the Anseong Baudeogi Pungmul Troupe, and the Gangneung Danoje Gwanno Mask Drama on stage.
International performance groups will also take part, including the Maori people's 'Haka' from New Zealand, 'Tundra' from the Sakha Republic in Russia, and 'West African Dance Lili' from C?te d'Ivoire, showcasing a rich array of world cultures.
In addition, a special exhibition by Jindo calligraphy and painting artists, traditional culture experiences, food markets, the Jindo Cultural Forum, Samrak Market, and a senior singing contest will be held, offering a wide variety of attractions and activities.
Kim Heesu, the county governor, stated, "Jindo is the center of intangible culture in Korea, and I hope this festival will spread the artistic spirit of Jindo to the world. We will do our best to develop the festival into an event where residents are the main protagonists, so that Jindo's culture can shine even brighter on the global stage."
Meanwhile, on October 30 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., the '2025 Jindo Good Night Night Parade'-a combination of parade and flash mob-will take place at Cheolma Park and major streets in Jindo-eup, further heightening the festive atmosphere.
