Employment Scam Prevention Guide Expanded to Laos and Myanmar Following Cambodia

Proactively Preventing Employment Scams, Human Trafficking, and Illegal Confinement

Employment Scam Prevention Guide Expanded to Laos and Myanmar Following Cambodia

The Ministry of Justice will expand its "Cambodia Employment Scam Prevention Guide," which has been in effect since the 17th, to include Laos and Myanmar starting from the 27th.

This measure aims to proactively prevent various types of harm such as employment scams, human trafficking, and illegal confinement, which can also occur in Laos and Myanmar.

First, when Korean nationals departing for Laos or Myanmar pass through the Ministry of Justice's automated departure inspection counters, guidance messages or videos will be displayed on the monitor screens. For those using the manned departure inspection counters, immigration officers will distribute a "Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar Travel Advisory." In addition, with the cooperation of airlines, a "Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar Travel Advisory" will be distributed to passengers boarding flights to Laos or Myanmar at the boarding gates.

The Ministry of Justice plans to ensure that Korean nationals visiting for travel or employment purposes are made aware of local risks before departure. It will also provide emergency contact information for local police, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Consular Call Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in case of emergencies.
