The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced on October 28 that it operated a promotional booth at a life sciences career fair hosted by three prestigious universities-University College London, Imperial College London, and King’s College London-on the 27th (local time), seeking to recruit international talent for Korea’s advanced industries.

This event was organized to promote the competitiveness of Korea’s advanced industries and job opportunities, as well as to enhance direct communication with international job seekers regarding employment.

Korea’s advanced talent recruitment systems and domestic settlement support programs, including the ‘K-Tech Pass’ implemented since April, were also introduced. The K-Tech Pass is a system that provides top-tier visas (F-2) and settlement benefits to international talent in eight key advanced industries: semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, biotechnology, robotics, defense, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced mobility. KOTRA, commissioned by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is exclusively responsible for issuing these visas.

At the promotional booth, Korea’s talent recruitment systems, settlement support, and company-specific recruitment needs for advanced professionals were presented, and one-on-one consultations were held with local international students and soon-to-be graduates. Participants commented that they were impressed by the variety of systems Korea, a global leader in advanced technology, has in place to attract international talent, and expressed interest in considering Korea as a career destination.

Previously, on October 7, a separate information session on Korea’s international talent recruitment was held at University College London. The session covered Korean companies’ recruitment needs in advanced industries, relevant policies, and employment case studies of international talent, drawing significant attention from students majoring in fields such as information security and mechanical engineering.

The United Kingdom is recognized as a country with global competitiveness in artificial intelligence and data science. The three universities that co-hosted this career fair are ranked among the top 50 in the world according to the QS World University Rankings, and are known for producing outstanding talent.

KOTRA is expanding its promotional activities to attract advanced professionals at major international hubs, including London. On October 14, KOTRA held an information and consultation session in Silicon Valley, United States, targeting employees of global companies and students from leading science and engineering universities. On October 16, following the launch of the KOTRA Overseas Talent Recruitment Center in Singapore, the agency dispatched its first on-site talent recruitment delegation. KOTRA plans to further expand its international talent recruitment network, focusing on global innovation hubs in North America, Europe, and ASEAN.

Kang Sangyeop, Executive Vice President and Head of the SME and Mid-Sized Enterprise Division at KOTRA, stated, “As the job-seeking demand of talent from global innovation hubs like the UK aligns with the growth of Korea’s advanced industries, a path for mutual growth is opening up. We will actively support international professionals with expertise so that they can build stable careers in Korea and contribute to the domestic industrial sector.”
