Presentation of Roadmap for Transfer of Jurisdiction to the Ministry of Health and Welfare
The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Education announced on October 27 that they will directly visit nine regional national university hospitals across the country to engage in on-site communication.
This series of on-site visits has been arranged through discussions within the 'Regional, Essential, and Public Healthcare Reinforcement Council,' which both ministries and the national university hospitals participate in. The purpose is to directly explain comprehensive support measures for clinical practice, education, and research to each hospital and to gather feedback.
In particular, the ministries plan to present a detailed roadmap regarding the national policy task of fostering national university hospitals as regional hubs and transferring their oversight to the Ministry of Health and Welfare. They will also provide thorough explanations about concerns on-site, such as potential setbacks in education and research resulting from the transfer of jurisdiction.
The on-site visits will begin at Chungnam National University Hospital on October 27 and continue sequentially at a total of nine regional national university hospitals, concluding with Chungbuk National University Hospital on November 12.
Lee Hyunghoon, the Second Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, stated, "We will strengthen on-site communication so that the government's efforts to communicate with national university hospitals are delivered to all members on the ground. Together with the Ministry of Education, we hope this will be an opportunity to address concerns related to the transfer of jurisdiction over national university hospitals to the Ministry of Health and Welfare."
Kim Heungsoon, Director of Medical Education Support at the Ministry of Education, also said, "Through cooperation and communication among the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and national university hospitals, we will actively collaborate to implement this national policy task."
