Seongnam City Holds Advisory Committee for Special Maintenance Plans for Mokryeon and Saetbyeol Villages in Bundang Redevelopment

Plans Refined Through Expert Consultation
Full-Scale Push for Bundang Leading Districts' Designation Within the Year

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) held the "Advisory Committee for the Special Maintenance Plan of Bundang Aging Planned City" on October 24, targeting Mokryeon Village and Saetbyeol Village, which have been selected as leading districts in Bundang. This was the second meeting, following the pilot district advisory committee held in September.

This advisory committee was newly established in accordance with the "Guidelines for Establishing Special Maintenance Plans for Aging Planned Cities," enacted in March this year. The committee aims to improve the completeness of the plans and expedite the designation of special maintenance districts by providing advance advice from experts in fields such as architecture, urban planning, and transportation on the draft special maintenance plans prepared by resident representatives and preliminary project operators for each district. This process also seeks to minimize the need for revisions during the subsequent review stages.

The resident representatives and preliminary project operators will incorporate the advisory feedback to revise the special maintenance plan, after which they will propose the designation of the special maintenance district. The proposal will then go through public inspection by residents, opinion gathering from the city council, and review by the urban planning committee, before the area is finally designated and officially announced as a special maintenance district.

Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, stated, "By presenting review comments on the draft special maintenance plan in advance through the advisory committee, we can proactively address factors that may lead to plan changes during the review stage and shorten the time required for the designation process."

He added, "Due to the recent volume carryover restrictions imposed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the housing market stabilization measures announced on October 15, some delays are expected in the progress of redevelopment projects in both the original downtown and Bundang New Town. Nevertheless, the city will spare no effort in providing active support to achieve the designation of the leading districts in Bundang within this year."
