Inspired by a scene from the film... Makeshift barbershop set up in theater lobby
Remake of "Save the Green Planet!"... Set for domestic release in November
A unique movie screening in Los Angeles, United States, where only bald individuals were allowed entry, has become a hot topic. The event has especially drawn attention from Korean fans as the film is based on the Korean movie "Save the Green Planet!"
Recently, local media reported that on October 20 (local time), a screening of director Yorgos Lanthimos's new film "Bugonia" was held at a theater in Los Angeles.
Distributor Focus Features announced that only people who were bald or willing to become bald would be allowed to attend the screening. As a result, a makeshift barbershop was set up in the theater lobby, and audience members shaved their heads before entering the screening room.
It was reported that the atmosphere at the shaving station was filled with laughter and cheers. One attendee said, "There was no reason to turn down a chance to see the movie two weeks early and get a free haircut."
This event was inspired by a scene from the film. In the movie, Emma Stone plays Michelle, the CEO of a giant biotech company, who is kidnapped by conspiracy theorists and is forcibly shaved bald. Stone actually shaved her head for the filming and also participated as a producer in this project.
"Bugonia" is a remake of director Jang Joonhwan's 2003 film "Save the Green Planet!" In "Bugonia," the male character originally played by Baek Yoonsik has been changed to a female character.

The original film was a box office failure upon its release, but was later re-evaluated for its unique premise, bizarre humor, and social messages. Ari Aster, director of "Hereditary" and "Midsommar" and a well-known fan of director Jang Joonhwan, participated as a co-producer in the remake.
Greek director Lanthimos, who directed the film, has established a unique cinematic world with works such as "The Lobster," "The Killing of a Sacred Deer," and "Poor Things." "Bugonia" marks his third collaboration with Stone.
"Bugonia" has been invited to the Venice, Telluride, BFI London, and Busan International Film Festivals. In the United States, it will be released in limited theaters starting October 31, and in Korea, it is scheduled to premiere on November 5.
