Park Nosu and Kim Kyungho Appointed as New Assistant Special Prosecutors to Kim Keonhee Special Investigation Team

The special prosecutor team led by Min Jungki, which is investigating allegations related to First Lady Kim Keonhee, announced on the 26th that attorneys Park Nosu and Kim Kyungho have been appointed as new assistant special prosecutors.

Attorney Park (age 59, 31st Judicial Research and Training Institute class) graduated from Jeonju High School and Seoul National University with a degree in economics. After working at Dongbu Construction for seven years, he passed the bar exam in 1999. Upon completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute, he was appointed as a judge at the Seoul District Court and served in various roles, including Chief Judge of the Namwon Branch of Jeonju District Court, Senior Judicial Policy Officer at the National Court Administration, and Presiding Judge at the Seoul Central District Court, accumulating approximately 20 years of experience in the judiciary.

Attorney Kim (age 58, 22nd Judicial Research and Training Institute class) graduated from Hongik University High School and Seoul National University School of Law. After passing the bar exam, he served as a judge at the Seoul District Court, the Seoul High Court, as a judicial researcher at the Supreme Court, and as a presiding judge at the Seoul Family Court, amassing about 20 years of experience as a judge.

The special prosecutor team, considering that major investigations have recently been concluded and the burden of maintaining prosecution has increased, decided to increase the number of assistant special prosecutors by two in accordance with the revised special prosecutor law and began searching for candidates.

The team shortlisted four candidates for assistant special prosecutor and recommended them to the presidential office on the 21st of last month. President Lee Jaemyung selected two of them.

Additionally, the team explained that, starting from the 27th of this month, they will receive additional dispatches from the prosecution, including Kim Ilkwon, Chief Prosecutor of the Jeju District Prosecutors' Office, and one junior prosecutor.

Furthermore, regarding Han Moonhyuk, Chief Prosecutor who has been investigating First Lady Kim's alleged involvement in the Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation case, the team stated, "Facts have been confirmed that make it difficult for him to continue the investigation," and announced that he will return to the prosecution from the 27th. The specific reason for the termination of Han's dispatch was not disclosed.

The special prosecutor team also explained that Kim Hyojin, Deputy Chief Prosecutor who has been investigating allegations of lobbying involving Geonjinbeopsa and the Unification Church, will "return to the prosecution on the 27th due to personnel reasons within the prosecution."
