Scheduled for November 14,
100 Single-Person Households to Participate
Seocho District in Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will host “Seocho Single Day: A Time Travel of Memories and Romance, Single Romantic Pocha (Retro Night)” at the Seocho Single Household Support Center on November 14 at 7:00 p.m., focusing on the theme of generational integration and cultural empathy among single-person households.
This event will bring together a total of 100 participants, including 50 young adults (aged 19 to 39) and 50 middle-aged adults (aged 40 to 67) living alone within the Seoul metropolitan area, under the concept of “A Time Travel of Memories and Romance.” The goal is to foster new social networks through natural communication and interaction between generations.
The event will feature a variety of programs, such as a relay of nostalgic hit songs and live music performances. Participants are encouraged to wear their own retro outfits, and a special prize will be awarded to the best-dressed attendee. In addition, experiential content such as retro-style food booths, a vintage costume photo booth, and arcade game machines will be available to help strengthen the sense of connection among single-person households.
Single-person households wishing to participate can apply through the Seocho Single Household Support Center website from October 27 to November 10. For inquiries, please contact the center at 02-2155-8281.
As the number of single-person households has increased and more residents have experienced loneliness or isolation, Seocho District opened the nation’s first “Seocho Single Household Support Center” in 2019, taking the lead in restoring social networks and improving quality of life. The district supports stable community living for single-person households of all ages through tailored programs such as “Youth Solo Pocha” and “Seoripul Job Cut” for young adults, as well as “Single Academy” and “Happy Table” for the middle-aged.
Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho District, stated, “I hope this event will provide an opportunity for young and middle-aged adults living alone to come together, communicate, and alleviate feelings of isolation while experiencing the warmth of the local community. We will continue to ensure that single-person households can connect and communicate, creating a healthy city free from social isolation.”
