Showcasing Achievements from 21 Educational Special Zones, the Most Nationwide
Superintendent Kim Daejung: "Turning Challenges into Opportunities"

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education is introducing a 'glocal (global + local) education' model that fosters coexistence between the local community and the world. On October 24, the Office announced that it will operate a booth under the theme "Glocal Jeonnam Education for Local and Global Coexistence" at the 'K-EDU Expo' to be held in Gyeongju from October 26 to 28.

This expo is co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, and the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, and will be held in conjunction with an APEC-related event. It serves as a platform to showcase future-oriented learning spaces and innovative, regionally tailored education cases all in one place.

The booth will introduce innovative Jeonnam education cases such as ▲operation of 2030 Classrooms ▲Educational Development Special Zones ▲Small School Specialization Models ▲Attracting International Students, and more. The '2030 Classrooms' initiative consists of 133 classrooms across kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, where students take the lead and classes focus on participation and discussion.

The Educational Development Special Zones, with participation from a nationwide record of 21 cities and counties, are designed to address issues such as population decline and the outflow of school-age children, and to foster local talent and establish a virtuous cycle for community settlement. Regional specialized education models include the K-Food Model, K-Advanced Industry Model, and K-Disney Model.

The Small School Specialization Model also draws attention. Through videos and panels, it is introduced as a way for students and parents to experience sustainable schools firsthand.

Additionally, policies tailored for international students are also on display, including attracting foreign students, multicultural education activities, and the establishment of Jeonnam Future International High School. The vision for the globalization of Jeonnam education is also presented through the establishment of an international education network.

Superintendent Kim Daejung stated, "Jeonnam education is turning challenges into opportunities," adding, "We will realize a glocal future education where the local community and the world coexist, and where students and schools come alive." He continued, "I hope this expo will serve as an opportunity to connect Jeonnam's innovations to a new path for education in Korea."
