The signing ceremony, held the previous day at the Royal Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Oh Soo, Head of Automobile Insurance Product Division at KB Insurance, Kim Hyunjung, Chairman of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and others.
KB Insurance and the agency have agreed to launch the "BELOW 50 Campaign" to encourage safe driving among motorcycle delivery workers. They will also cooperate in activities to prevent accidents and conduct research on improving traffic safety policies and systems.
The campaign aims to keep motorcycle speeds below 50 km/h and to reduce speed by 50% in hazardous or congested areas.
Through the agreement, KB Insurance plans to develop a special insurance discount for drivers who complete the agency's specialized motorcycle safety driving training program.
They also intend to carry out ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities that contribute to spreading a culture of safety through accident prevention campaigns.
Oh Soo stated, "This agreement is an exemplary case of realizing social value by encouraging voluntary safe driving among drivers," adding, "KB Insurance will continue to actively work not only to provide insurance discounts but also to enhance traffic safety and strengthen the public role of insurance."
In 2019, KB Insurance became the first in Korea to launch "time-based motorcycle insurance," introducing innovative products for platform delivery workers. The company continues to provide tangible insurance benefits to safe drivers and is building an insurance-based traffic safety incentive system.
