Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) held a special lecture titled "Cats Become Happier as Their Owners Learn More" on the 23rd at the Banwol Art Hall Small Theater.

This lecture featured Dr. Kim Myungcheol, a veterinarian widely known as a feline behavior specialist, and attracted around 180 citizens who filled the seats.


Dr. Kim Myungcheol explained in an accessible way, using real-life examples, how to understand the behavior and psychology of companion cats, the causes and solutions for common behavioral problems encountered in daily life, and lifestyle habits that enable people and cats to live happily together. During the following Q&A session, a discussion was held focusing on topics selected by the speaker from questions submitted in advance.


One participant shared, "Hearing directly from an expert was extremely helpful, and above all, I was able to understand my companion cat on a much deeper level."


Baek Younghyeon, Mayor of Pocheon City, stated, "I hope this lecture helps promote a proper culture of pet ownership and supports a healthy life with companion animals," adding, "We will continue to develop topics closely related to citizens' interests and daily lives and steadily operate the Pocheon Humanities Academy."


Pocheon City is running humanities and cultural programs year-round to improve citizens' quality of life, and plans to further expand participation opportunities by offering customized lectures and hands-on training that reflect demand. The city also intends to strengthen its identity as a humanities city together with citizens through content that resonates with various generations.
