KICOX to Launch Full-Scale Korea-Germany Industrial Complex AX Cooperation

Discussion on AI Demonstration Cooperation and Field Visit to Changwon Industrial Complex

The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced that on October 23 and 24, it discussed international cooperation measures to promote the transition to artificial intelligence (AX) in industrial complexes with a German industrial innovation delegation.

On October 23, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany jointly hosted the "2nd Korea-Germany Industrial Data Cooperation Forum" in Seoul. The forum was attended by more than 100 representatives from industry, academia, and research institutions, including the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology, and AI development companies. Participants discussed the establishment of standard models for industrial data and global cooperation strategies. In the afternoon, a cooperation meeting was held between the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and the German delegation to deepen industrial data exchange and AX cooperation. Both sides agreed to establish a regular cooperation framework to jointly develop AX demonstration models within industrial complexes and to identify best practices in manufacturing innovation.

On October 24, the delegation visited LG Electronics and Taelim Industrial, which are leading AX factories within the Changwon National Industrial Complex, to assess the potential for collaboration focused on manufacturing sites. At LG Electronics' Changwon Plant 1 and 2, the delegation observed innovation cases such as a 5G-based autonomous logistics system and an AI-powered quality prediction system in smart factories. At Taelim Industrial, participants shared small and medium-sized enterprise AI and data innovation cases, including the establishment of an "Innovation Data Center (MDCG)" and a simulation-based new product development process, and discussed practical cooperation measures.

This event expanded the scope of cooperation between the two countries from forums and agreements to the manufacturing sites of industrial complexes, enabling concrete discussions on practical cooperation for industrial AX and data-driven manufacturing innovation. Going forward, the two countries plan to establish a continuous AX cooperation framework centered on industrial complexes. Lee Sanghoon, President of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, stated, "Korea and Germany are optimal partners who can share their strengths and grow together in the process of industrial artificial intelligence transformation," adding, "The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation will actively promote industrial AI based on a manufacturing AX cooperation model centered on industrial complexes."
