Billion-Won Projects Emerge One After Another
Wadiz announced on the 24th that the transaction amount in the game category for the second half of this year (July to October) increased approximately 12 times (1,089%) compared to the same period last year, demonstrating a steep growth trend.
On an annual basis (from January to October 20), the transaction amount increased by 307%, and the number of payments rose by more than 102%, highlighting the rapid expansion of crowdfunding in the game sector. In particular, board games accounted for 89% of the total transaction amount in the game category, driving this growth. This year, the number of notification subscribers for board game-related projects reached 17,667, already surpassing last year's total for the entire game category (17,470).

Wadiz analyzed that board games are among the most compatible content with crowdfunding, given the high concentration of fandom and the importance of pre-demand forecasting for business success. Through crowdfunding, producers can gauge actual demand in advance and establish production and distribution strategies, while supporters are able to experience highly collectible and rare works, such as limited editions or Korean-language versions, before anyone else. This structure is accelerating the growth of board game funding.
Among the top 10 projects in the game category this year, half were board games, with both the first and second place projects achieving funding in excess of 100 million won. The Korean-language edition of the cooperative adventure board game "Agemonia," which launched on October 17, surpassed 500 million won in funding within just one day of its campaign. In August, the Korean-language board game adaptation of the globally popular IP "Cyberpunk 2077" was released exclusively, achieving cumulative funding of 330 million won.
A Wadiz representative stated, "Wadiz not only encompasses the existing board game fandom but also attracts potential users exploring new interests, resulting in a strong 'premium consumer base' that actively participates even in high-value rewards." The representative added, "With high average payment amounts and continued cases of funding exceeding 100 million won, Wadiz is establishing itself as a 'premium launch platform' within the board game market."
