"Discovering New Musicians Across Diverse Genres"
Hyundai Card announced on the 24th that it has brought on Jay Park and Wave to Earth as new curators for 'Hyundai Card Understage'.
Hyundai Card Understage is a performance venue that discovers, supports, and introduces artists from various genres by combining Hyundai Card's unique perspective with the in-depth insights of its curators. Yoo Heeyeol, Kim Sooro, Jang Kiha, and Son Minsoo are among the current curators.
The two newly joined curators are artists who will expand the genres of Hyundai Card Understage and write a new chapter in the history of performance culture.
Jay Park has mastered hip-hop and R&B. He has founded various companies such as AOMG, H1GHR MUSIC, WONSOJU, and MORE VISION, and has discovered and nurtured artists as a producer. In 2017, he became the first Asian to sign an exclusive contract with JAY-Z's label Roc Nation, earning international recognition.
Wave to Earth is a band making history in the Korean indie rock scene with their delicate and mellow sound that blends jazz and rock. Recently, they have toured Asia, North America, and Europe. Last month, they performed at Hyundai Card Da Vinci Motel and received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
A Hyundai Card representative stated, "The new curators, together with the existing twelve curators, will discover new musicians and introduce performances from various genres," adding, "Hyundai Card will continue to work with the curators to contribute to the development of Korea's performance culture."
Since its opening in 2015, Hyundai Card Understage has established itself as a space where more than 600 domestic and international artists and over 200,000 audience members have come together.
It has introduced performances by Korean popular music artists such as Silica Gel, Cho Wonseon, Jannabi, and Jang Beomjun. The venue has also consistently hosted performances by legends like Elton John and Sting, as well as emerging international artists such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Parcels, and Khruangbin.
