"Citizen Heritage Committee" to Launch in Danyang on October 24-25
Expanding Citizen-Led Preservation Through Donations and Gifts
Volunteers dedicated to protecting cultural assets and natural heritage are gathering in one place.
The National Heritage Administration will hold the "National Heritage Guardians Nationwide Competition" at Sono Belle Danyang for two days starting October 24. The National Heritage Guardians consist of about 70,000 volunteers and 63 partner organizations, including companies and public institutions. They carry out activities such as cleaning the environment around cultural properties, inspecting for damage, promoting and educating the public, and making donations.
During this event, the "Citizen Heritage Committee" will be launched to promote heritage preservation projects through voluntary donations and gifts from citizens. The committee aims to enhance the transparency of donation management and expand citizen-led preservation activities.
On the first day, there will be presentations of outstanding regional cases, awards for distinguished contributors, and a calligraphy performance. On the second day, participants will visit the scenic Dodamsambong Peaks in Danyang and the natural monument Gosu Cave in Danyang, conducting on-site inspections and cleanup activities.
An official from the National Heritage Administration said, "We hope that heritage protection activities involving individuals, companies, and organizations will become even more widespread," adding, "We will create conditions that allow the public to participate more actively."
