Promoting Joint Growth in the Defense Industry with LIG Nex1 and Partners
On October 23, Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province hosted the "LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd. ↔ Partner Networking" event at Exhibition Hall 1 of KINTEX in Goyang during the "Seoul ADEX (International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition) 2025." The event was attended by Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi City, Cha Sanghoon, Head of Corporate Support at LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd., Lee Gunhyuk, Head of Production, as well as representatives from 27 partner companies and about 60 participants in total.
The event began with a preliminary session that included the signing of investment memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between Gumi City and two partner companies (Digitron Co., Ltd. and KS System Co., Ltd.), as well as an investment environment briefing. This was followed by the main networking event.
Through this event, the city promoted its strategy to attract defense industry companies and established a practical platform for expanding its cooperative network.

The MOUs signed on this day are particularly significant, as they come at a time when the importance of the defense industry is growing due to changes in the international situation. It is notable that defense companies with advanced technology, whose headquarters and factories are located in other regions, have decided to invest in Gumi. This investment is expected to encourage further entry of related defense companies into the region.
Digitron Co., Ltd., headquartered in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, has over 20 years of experience in the field and develops and manufactures a variety of military electronic systems, including radar, guided weapons, and electronic warfare equipment. The company plans to invest approximately 6.3 billion KRW in Gumi Industrial Complex No. 1 by 2026, create more than 20 new jobs, and produce components for guided weapons.
KS System Co., Ltd., with its headquarters in Hwaseong and an R&D center in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, manufactures military shelters and precision defense components tailored to various operational purposes, such as command and communications, surveillance and reconnaissance, and guided weapons. To establish a strategic base in Gumi, where LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd. is located, strengthen its collaboration with major defense companies, and expand the regional industrial network, KS System Co., Ltd. has decided to invest in a new Gumi office.
After the MOUs were signed, Gumi City introduced its investment environment, focusing on its competitive industrial sites, excellent industrial ecosystem, and administrative and financial support measures.
The city also highlighted the infrastructure of the Gumi National Industrial Complex and the ongoing Gumi High Valley project, the synergy expected from its connection with the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport, and plans to develop a cultural industrial complex that will drive the next 50 years of Gumi Industrial Complex No. 1.
Additionally, Gumi City emphasized its high investment competitiveness compared to other regions, citing tax incentives and regulatory easing resulting from its designation as a semiconductor-specialized complex, a defense industry innovation cluster, and an opportunity development zone, as well as various business support policies.
During the subsequent networking session, representatives from LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd. and partner companies engaged in extensive discussions on global defense industry trends and the future direction of Gumi City's investment attraction strategy.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi City, stated, "This event was a meaningful occasion where LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd., the anchor defense company representing Gumi, the local government, and partner companies came together to pursue joint growth in the defense industry. Going forward, we will do our utmost to create the optimal investment environment as a leading city in the national defense industry and to lead the global defense market with Gumi’s unique investment attraction strategy."
