The Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in North Gyeongsang Province (Chairman Yoon Jaeho) and the North Gyeongsang FTA Trade Promotion Center, in cooperation with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held a training session on October 23 for export-import and FTA managers in the North Gyeongsang region, titled "FTA Certificate of Origin Issuance Practices - Focus on ASEAN."
This training focused on the ASEAN region (Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.), which is most frequently utilized by export-import companies in North Gyeongsang, and also covered the Korea-China FTA and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreements. The program was systematically structured to enhance understanding of FTA utilization in general-including key provisions of each agreement, rules of origin, product classification, and post-verification systems-and to help participants apply the unique features of each agreement in their daily work.
The lecture was led by Shin Sangtae, a customs broker from the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was organized around practical content such as real-world cases and response strategies that can be immediately applied in the field, thereby increasing comprehension and drawing strong interest from on-site professionals.
Participants strengthened their capacity for origin management through this training and also received credits required for obtaining or renewing their certified exporter status in the future.
An official from the North Gyeongsang FTA Trade Promotion Center stated, "The importance of FTA utilization is growing amid changes in the global trade environment. We hope this training will help local companies understand the agreement systems of major trading partners and strengthen their capacity to respond to origin verification."
