Goseong County Completes Comprehensive Inspection of Snow Removal Vulnerable Zones
Full Efforts to Prevent Winter Slip Accidents
Goseong County in Gangwon Province (Governor Ham Myeongjun) announced on October 23 that, ahead of the full onset of winter, it conducted a comprehensive inspection of snow removal zones, including village roads, back roads, and sidewalks. As a result, a total of six sections have been designated as vulnerable to snow, and a rapid, field-centered response system has been established.
This inspection was jointly carried out by the Safety and Transportation Division and the Construction and Urban Division for five days from September 30 to October 13. The focus was on areas vulnerable to snow, such as village roads, sidewalks, and back roads, where there are concerns about safety accidents like slips and vehicle skidding during snowfall.
As a result of the inspection, no particular vulnerable points were found on sidewalks or back roads. However, six locations on village roads (five in Geojin-eup and one in Hyeonnae-myeon) were identified as snow removal vulnerable zones.
Accordingly, the county will designate both public officials and village heads as on-site managers for each vulnerable section, ensuring that they are managed appropriately. In the event of heavy snowfall or adverse weather, snow removal personnel and equipment will be immediately deployed under the responsibility of these on-site managers.
Additionally, the county plans to complete the purchase and deployment of additional snow removal bins by November 10, so that residents can travel safely.
An official from Goseong County stated, "This inspection was not merely for status assessment but focused on establishing a snow management system capable of immediate field response," adding, "We will continue to take proactive measures to minimize slip accidents and traffic inconveniences caused by winter snowfall."
