This agreement was established to systematically promote the "Once in a Lifetime Project," Paju City's flagship university-linked lifelong learning initiative, in partnership with Sogang University. With this agreement as a starting point, the city plans to further expand the project in 2026, actively working to realize a true lifelong learning city where every citizen can pursue the education they desire throughout their lives.

The "Once in a Lifetime Project" is Paju's core lifelong learning model, the first of its kind in Gyeonggi Province, in which each lifelong learning center in a town, township, or neighborhood is paired one-on-one with a university. This model provides citizens with access to high-quality university education close to their daily lives.

Shim Jonghyuk, president of Sogang University, stated, "Based on Sogang University's educational philosophy and professional expertise, we will design practical programs that enhance the capabilities of individual citizens and bring about positive change in the local community. I hope this collaboration will serve as a leading example of a local university fulfilling its social responsibility."

Kim Kyungil, mayor of Paju City, said, "This agreement with Sogang University will mark a turning point in raising the quality of lifelong learning in Paju. We will establish a systematic cooperation model so that citizens can receive high-quality education from a prestigious university within their own communities, without having to travel far, and we will continue to expand this initiative going forward."
