LG Electronics is joining the vehicle software marketplace "SDVerse" to expand its global partnerships in the era of software-defined vehicles (SDV). By leveraging its total SDV solutions, the company aims to establish itself as a key partner for automakers and strengthen its competitiveness in the automotive components sector.
On October 23, LG Electronics announced its plan to expand partnerships within the global vehicle software ecosystem and further enhance its competitiveness in the automotive business by joining SDVerse. SDVerse is the industry’s first open-market platform for vehicle software, established under the leadership of General Motors (GM), Magna, and Wipro. Automakers, parts suppliers, and software developers all participate in this platform.

SDVerse is structured so that vehicle software can be registered, compared, and traded like components. Buyers can easily check whether quality standards are met and compare only the software they need in detail. For sellers, it is efficient because they can target global top-tier automakers and parts suppliers as potential customers and focus on those with purchasing intent. LG Electronics’ participation in the platform demonstrates its determination to prove its technological competitiveness in the global market and its confidence in achieving tangible results through actual contracts.
The VS Business Division, which oversees LG Electronics’ automotive business, plans to unveil a variety of mobility solutions on SDVerse, including its software solution for SDVs, "LG αWare." The company also expects to address industry challenges such as compatibility issues in increasingly complex vehicle software, enhanced security and stability, and innovation in driver experience through collaboration with global automaker clients and partners.
LG Electronics offers a comprehensive suite of SDV solutions, including infotainment platforms such as its web-based operating system (webOS) content platform, in-cabin sensing for driver safety, and telematics for data collection. The company’s technological leadership has been recognized this year, having been named "Best Creativity Team" by GM in April and winning the "SDV Innovator Award" from global media outlet MotorTrend.

At the IAA 2025 International Mobility Show held last month in Munich, Germany, LG Electronics also presented its vision to transform vehicles from mere means of transportation into "living spaces on wheels" centered on user experience.
