Ms. A, who works at a care facility in Suyeong-gu, is accused of using approximately 220,000 won out of the 430,000 won worth of livelihood recovery consumption coupons issued to inpatient Ms. B in August for personal purposes.

At the time, Ms. B, who had difficulty moving, visited the administrative welfare center with care facility staff and received the consumption coupons in the form of a prepaid card. Ms. B, a recipient of basic livelihood support, is known to suffer from dementia and diabetes and reportedly has no guardian.

Ms. A claimed to have used the entire 430,000 won in coupons to purchase items needed by Ms. B. However, after reviewing the purchased items, the police determined that approximately 220,000 won was spent on items for Ms. A’s personal use.

A police official stated, "The list of purchased items included things like snacks and ice cream, which Ms. B, given her diabetes, could not have consumed. We will continue to investigate to determine if there were any additional illegal acts."
