On the 21st, Yongin City announced that it held the second working-level council meeting and a corporate roundtable for the "Yongin City Semiconductor Talent Cultivation Industry-Academia Council" at the Vision Hall of City Hall.
The meeting was attended by working-level managers in charge of semiconductor-related programs from six universities-Kangnam University, Kyung Hee University Global Campus, Dankook University Jukjeon Campus, Myongji University Yongin Campus, Yongin Arts and Science University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Global Campus-as well as human resources representatives from Koh Young Technology.
During the event, Koh Young Technology, a company specializing in 3D inspection equipment for the semiconductor and electronics industries, gave a presentation on the qualities sought in semiconductor professionals and their expectations for university curricula. The company also shared the direction for industry-academia cooperation and the need for nurturing local talent through a Q&A session with university representatives.
Starting with Koh Young Technology, the city plans to continuously host roundtables with local semiconductor materials, components, and equipment companies, aiming to establish a customized talent cultivation system that reflects the needs of the industry.
The meeting also discussed various initiatives for cooperation among local universities, including: joint semiconductor education programs, meetings with local materials, components, and equipment companies, roundtables inviting industry experts, and sharing of specialized programs by each university.
The city plans to further develop detailed implementation plans for the tasks discussed at this meeting at the third working-level council meeting scheduled for January next year. Previously, in June, the city signed a business agreement with six local universities to form the "Semiconductor Talent Cultivation Industry-Academia Council."
A city official stated, "We will ensure that the matters discussed at the meeting develop into joint cooperative projects, leading to a practical industry-academia cooperation model where local universities and companies can grow together."
