The Geumcheon-gu Mayor’s Cup Healthy Running Competition, along with the Geumcheon-gu Athletics Federation President’s Cup Geumcheon Love Marathon, is one of the district’s representative autumn sports events. After completing the race, participants can enjoy boiled pork and Makgeolli together, earning the event the nickname “Suyuk Run.” It has become especially popular among marathon enthusiasts.
This year, registration closed as soon as it opened. Social networking services (SNS) have been filled with participant reviews, praising the event as “a well-organized race with a warm local atmosphere.”
The race course consists of two segments: a 5 km section (from Geumcheon Bridge to Cheolsan Bridge and back) and a 10 km section (from Geumcheon Bridge to Gueil Station and back). A total of 900 participants will run along the banks of the Anyangcheon under the clear autumn sky.
This year, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Geumcheon-gu Office, a photo zone, commemorative booths, and a variety of prize events will be featured to enhance the festive atmosphere. Experience programs provided by private sponsors will also be available, offering additional activities for families beyond running.
The district announced that, on the day of the competition, it will deploy additional professional safety personnel and have medical support and emergency rescue staff on standby at the site to prevent accidents.
Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “The ‘Suyuk Run’ is a source of pride for Geumcheon-gu and a festival-style marathon that represents the region. We will do our best to promote Geumcheon’s beautiful nature and vibrant local culture through this event.”
