"We Will Restore It as Soon as Possible"

The Cultural Heritage Administration and Gyeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province invested 1 billion won to present a nighttime media art video at Cheomseongdae in Gyeongju ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, but the installation stopped working on the very first day.

According to Yonhap News on October 21, the Cheomseongdae media art project experienced a malfunction during its second screening after the opening show the previous evening, causing it to stop operating properly. At the time, messages such as "shutting down" and "display mode" repeatedly appeared on the exterior screen, and the video failed to play. As a result, Gyeongju residents and tourists waiting for the screening eventually had to leave.

The Cheomseongdae media art project involves projecting a variety of videos onto Cheomseongdae, a national heritage site. The Cultural Heritage Administration and Gyeongju City explained that the malfunction occurred because one of the four projectors broke down. Both organizations stated that they plan to replace the equipment to ensure smooth screenings. A city official commented, "We will restore the installation as soon as possible so that screenings can resume."

Meanwhile, during the APEC Summit, Gyeongju City plans to offer nighttime attractions and actively promote the historical value and beauty of Cheomseongdae to world leaders and tourists from around the globe.
