Gwangju Bank Launches Five New Korean Air SKYPASS Cards

Gwangju Bank Launches Five New Korean Air SKYPASS Cards Korean Air SKY PASS Card 5 Types Release Poster.

Gwangju Bank announced on October 21 that it has launched five types of "Korean Air SKYPASS Cards" through a partnership with Korean Air and BC Card. These new cards, available to both individual and corporate members, offer Korean Air mileage accumulation based on card usage as well as various everyday benefits.

Until now, Gwangju Bank had only issued co-branded cards with Asiana Airlines. However, with the recent opportunity for Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to become part of the same group, the bank stopped issuing and renewing its existing Asiana Club co-branded cards starting in May. As a follow-up measure, Gwangju Bank has launched its first-ever Korean Air co-branded cards since its establishment.

The new Korean Air co-branded cards consist of five products: for individual members, there are three types-Korean Air SKYPASS Card (Standard), Korean Air SKYPASS Card (Platinum), and Korean Air SKYPASS Check Card. For corporate members, there are two types-Korean Air SKYPASS Corporate Platinum Card (for sole proprietors) and Korean Air SKYPASS Corporate Platinum Card (for corporations).

The mileage accumulation criteria for the "Korean Air SKYPASS Card" differ for individual members (including sole proprietors) and corporate members. A key feature is that mileage is awarded based on the amount spent, with no requirement for previous month's spending performance.

For individual members using credit cards, up to 2 miles are awarded for every 1,500 won spent at domestic and overseas merchants. Depending on the product, up to 60,000 miles can be accumulated annually, and if annual spending requirements are met, an additional annual bonus of 1,000 miles is provided. For check cards, up to 1.5 miles are awarded for every 2,500 won spent at domestic and overseas merchants, with a maximum of 24,000 miles per year. If annual spending requirements are met, an additional annual bonus of 500 miles is awarded.

For corporate members, the credit card for sole proprietors follows the same accumulation criteria as the individual member card (including the annual bonus). In addition, BC Card's insurance and Tour Members services are included to support business owners.

On the other hand, the credit card for corporations distinguishes between small businesses and general corporations. Small businesses can earn up to 2 miles for every 1,500 won spent at domestic and overseas merchants, with a maximum of 60,000 miles annually. General corporations earn 1 mile for every 3,000 won spent, with no annual mileage cap.

Kim Haechul, Head of Card Business Division, stated, "This is the first time Gwangju Bank is launching a Korean Air SKYPASS co-branded card. Given the high demand for overseas travel and global business, we have introduced products for both individuals and corporations. We recommend these products to customers currently using the Asiana Airlines Asiana Club co-branded card as well as those who primarily use Korean Air."
