BJFEZ Chief Visits Companies Expanding Globally

Highland Innovation Builds Global Food Supply Chain
Inspection of Smart Factory as a Forward Base for K-Food Exports

On the morning of October 21, the Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (headed by Park Seongho) visited Highland Innovation in Nammun-dong, Jinhae-gu to inspect the company's export and processing infrastructure and discuss future support measures.

Highland Innovation is a state-of-the-art food manufacturing and logistics integrated facility, spanning 50,000 square meters, completed by Highland Food Group in March 2023. It has established itself as a food processing hub by combining a smart logistics center and a smart factory for the first time in Korea.

Through this facility, the company has established a unified system for the entire process from the distribution of imported meat raw materials to processing, packaging, and export, emerging as a key hub for the globalization of K-Food.

Since its founding in 1999, Highland Food Group has grown based on its corporate philosophy: "A nation where everyone can enjoy good meat without burden is a nation built on sustainable, virtuous values."

The company is known for traveling 300,000 kilometers annually to discover high-quality foods from pristine regions around the world and for supplying safe food through strict quality control.

Based on global partnerships, the company has established a distribution and processing network with annual sales of 1 trillion won, and this year it has begun full-scale exports of its 'K-Born' brand products to major countries including those in Europe.

In addition, at 'Anuga 2025,' the world's largest food exhibition held in Cologne, Germany from October 4 to 8, the company achieved export consultations totaling 10 million dollars, further proving the global competitiveness of K-Food.

Park Seongho, head of the authority, toured the production, logistics, and packaging processes in person and praised Highland Innovation as "a representative company of BJFEZ that simultaneously secures a stable food supply chain and drives the expansion of K-Food exports."

Park also emphasized, "We will actively provide administrative support for the advancement of smart factories, ESG management, and the expansion of global certifications."

Yoon Byungil, CEO of Highland Innovation, responded, "The authority's on-site communication team serves as a strong support for our global leap," adding, "We will strengthen our social contribution and industry-academia cooperation activities to foster a sustainable food industry ecosystem and nurture future talent."

Highland Innovation provides scholarships to Ungcheon High School every year and donates 100 million won to the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea. Recently, the company also participated in special donation activities to support wildfire recovery and aid victims in Sancheong-gun.

This visit was part of the 'On-site Communication Team for Resident Companies' operated by the authority from October to November, aiming to strengthen field-oriented communication between the authority and companies and to swiftly address corporate difficulties.

The authority plans to continue regular on-site visits and communication meetings to enhance the competitiveness of resident companies and vitalize the regional industrial ecosystem.
