Samsung Securities Becomes First in Industry to Surpass 5,000 Clients With Assets Over 3 Billion Won

Achieving the Largest Number of Ultra-High-Net-Worth Clients in the Industry... Solidifying Its Status as a Leading Wealth Management Firm
Significant Influx of Younger Generations
Sharp Increase in Overseas Assets... Domestic Favorites Include Samsung Electronics, Doosan Enerbility, and SK Hynix

Samsung Securities has once again proven its status as the leading wealth management firm in South Korea by becoming the first in the industry to surpass 5,000 clients with assets of 3 billion won (approximately 2.2 million USD) or more. As competition intensifies in the domestic wealth management market, Samsung Securities has ushered in an era with the largest number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals in the industry.

According to data analyzed by Samsung Securities, as of the end of September this year, the number of clients with assets exceeding 3 billion won reached 5,449, marking a 91% increase compared to the end of 2020. In particular, when examining the growth rate of clients with assets over 3 billion won by age group, the figures were 194% for those in their 30s, 184% for those in their 40s, 178% for those in their 20s, 147% for those in their 50s, 93% for those in their 60s, and 39% for those aged 70 and above. This data shows that the influx of younger generations has driven the growth in the number of ultra-high-net-worth clients.

Even as the number of ultra-high-net-worth clients increases, the proportion of cash in their asset portfolios has declined from 23.0% at the end of 2020 to 11.5% at the end of September 2025, a decrease of 11.5 percentage points. This trend indicates that Samsung Securities' ultra-high-net-worth clients are maximizing the efficiency of their investment assets by proactively responding to market changes and swiftly rebalancing liquidity into investment assets.

The asset portfolios of these clients have been primarily rebalanced toward global assets. The proportion of overseas assets in their total portfolios rose from 12.6% at the end of 2020 to 23.2% in 2025, an increase of 10.6 percentage points. The main contributors to this growth were domestic and foreign bonds and overseas stocks. The reasons for this include the tax advantages of low-coupon government bonds in a high interest rate environment and the composition of overseas stock portfolios centered on global artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and large-cap technology stocks.

Recently, in line with expectations for domestic stock market stimulus policies, the proportion of domestic stock investments among clients with assets of 3 billion won or more has increased by 5.1 percentage points this year, demonstrating their agile response to market changes. The top domestic stocks traded by these clients were Samsung Electronics, Doosan Enerbility, SK Hynix, Hanwha Ocean, Alteogen, NAVER, Hanwha Aerospace, Kakao, and Hyundai Rotem. This shows an aggressive pursuit of returns, with concentrated investments not only in leading AI semiconductor stocks but also in sectors expected to benefit from policy support such as defense, nuclear power, and infrastructure.

A Samsung Securities representative stated, "Recently, ultra-high-net-worth individuals have shown keen interest in diversifying their global assets, including bonds, overseas investments, and private alternative products. Samsung Securities has accumulated differentiated expertise in global asset allocation strategies centered on bonds and overseas assets."

In addition, Samsung Securities boasts unique wealth management capabilities, bringing together the consulting expertise of private bankers, optimized product solutions, and robust infrastructure, all based on investment know-how accumulated over the past 20 years.
