Gurye County to Operate "Gurye Persimmon Special Direct Market" Starting on the 23rd

Gurye County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 21st that it will operate a "Gurye Persimmon Special Direct Market" at the Gurye Five-Day Market from October 23 to November 13, coinciding with the peak shipping season for its high-quality "Gurye Persimmons" (sweet persimmons and Daebong persimmons). The market will be open on market days: October 23 and 28, and November 3, 8, and 13.

"Gurye Persimmons" boast superior quality compared to regular persimmons on the market, thanks to the pristine natural environment of Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjingang River, the significant temperature difference between day and night which enhances their coloration and sweetness, and the fertile soil that results in firm flesh and excellent storability.

This special direct market, now in its 11th edition, will be held in the parking lot of the Five-Day Market to widely promote the excellence of "Gurye Persimmons" and provide farmers with a stable sales channel. A total of about 100 farms are expected to participate.

A county official stated, "Operating the direct market will not only help generate income for local producers but also provide consumers with a great opportunity to taste and purchase delicious Gurye persimmons directly."
