404 out of 709 Systems Restored
Strategic Goods Management System of MOTIE Back to Normal
A total of 404 systems that had been halted due to the fire at the National Information Resources Service have been restored. The Strategic Goods Management System of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, which had received a flood of complaints from export companies, has also returned to normal operation.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 9 a.m. on October 21, 404 out of 709 systems had been restored, resulting in a recovery rate of 57.0%. The recovery rate for first-grade systems is 77.5%, for second-grade systems 69.1%, for third-grade systems 62.1%, and for fourth-grade systems 48.2%.
Among the newly restored systems is the Strategic Goods Management System (second-grade) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. This system determines online whether export products are classified as strategic goods subject to export controls.
After the fire at the National Information Resources Service led to a service outage, work was handled through alternative means such as email. However, as work was delayed compared to normal, the number of complaints from export companies increased significantly.
In response, Kim Minjae, First Deputy Chief of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety), stated on October 16, "We will do our utmost to complete the restoration of the Strategic Goods Management System by early next week."
