Amendment to the 'Emergency Welfare Support Ordinance'
Passes Standing Committee
Paek Jonghan, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu District Council, announced that the partial amendment ordinance to the 'Gwangju Seo-gu Emergency Welfare Support Ordinance,' which he proposed at the 334th extraordinary session, passed the relevant standing committee on the 21st.
The amendment stipulates that, based on the 'Emergency Welfare Support Act,' the Seo-gu Living Security Committee will assume the functions of the Emergency Support Deliberation Committee. Through this integration, the welfare review function is consolidated, shortening the decision-making process and significantly reducing the time required to provide actual support. It also clarifies the application of details such as on-site verification, post-management, and recovery procedures in accordance with the law, thereby enhancing fairness and transparency.
Paek stated, "Sometimes, the speed of administration can save lives," adding, "With this amendment, we have established a welfare system that can respond quickly in crisis situations." He further emphasized, "We will continue to improve the system so that Seo-gu can serve as a model of a warm and caring community welfare."
