Gwangjin District to Host Food Culture Festivals at Konkuk University Flavor Street and Lamb Skewer Street

Back-to-Back Festivals on October 22 and 30

Gwangjin District in Seoul (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) will host vibrant autumn food culture festivals at two of its most renowned culinary destinations. Through these events, the district aims to bring together residents and visitors, boosting the vitality of the local commercial area.

The first festival will take place on October 22 at 4:00 p.m. at the popular 'Konkuk University Lamb Skewer Street' (around Dongil-ro 18-gil), known for its exotic atmosphere. The festivities will kick off with a Nanta percussion and dance performance, followed by congratulatory performances by guest singers, a singing contest, a beer-drinking competition, and free lamb skewer tastings, creating a lively and festive mood on the street, which has become even more pleasant after last year's pedestrian environment improvements.

The second autumn festival will be held on October 30 at 5:00 p.m. at 'Konkuk University Flavor Street.' Now in its 16th year, this event will begin with a traditional percussion troupe, and continue with B-boy dance, street performances, and a DJ party, delivering a scene full of passion and energy befitting this youthful street.

Throughout the venue, visitors will find tastings of signature dishes from Flavor Street, a unique flea market, and experience zones designed for families. Additionally, a food poisoning prevention campaign and a no-smoking promotion booth will be set up, contributing to the creation of a "delicious and healthy street culture." These two festivals, blending food, performances, and interactive experiences, are expected to establish themselves as signature urban cultural events for Gwangjin District.

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, stated, "I hope this food culture festival will become an event everyone can enjoy, regardless of generation or nationality," and added, "We will do our utmost to promote a hygienic and high-quality food culture, so that Gwangjin's Flavor Street continues to grow as a vibrant attraction."
